We have a real love of all thing bivalve but none more than the oyster. Over the years we have eaten copious amounts of oysters and, as such, have found ourselves at all the usual suspects: Neptune Oyster, B&G, Island Creek and Row 34. They are all solid. In my book, Neptune (where chef Michael…

Oysters: Select Oyster Bar****1/2
Sampled a few oysters at Select Oyster Bar in Boston, MA. These are the Moon Shoals from Barnstable, MA (on the right) and Spearpoints from Martha’s Vineyard, MA (on the left). These were two new varieties for us. They were perfectly shucked and ice cold. Both were perfect oysters. Could not declare a winner! http://www.moonshoaloysters.com/…
Paris: Huitrerie Régis
Final takedown of the trip. This did not even come close of rising to the level of David Toutain or L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon but instead was just disappointing. It is interesting that our three disappointments this trip were places we had been to in the past. Huitrerie Régis is a tiny oyster place in the 6th that…
Oysters: Huitrerie Régis*1/2
Huitrerie Régis in Paris was a pretty big disappointment during our October 2015 trip. There is a dozen oysters per person minimum and we sampled a dozen Speciales de Claires (Nº2), six Speciales de Claires (Nº3) and six Fines de Claires (Nº2). The oysters were large and briny like a good oyster should be but the…
Oysters: Legal Seafood Chestnut Hill*****
We have eaten oysters from all over the world and, at the end of the day, New England oysters are our very favorites with Massachusetts coming out on top. Living in Boston we have eaten plenty of Massachusetts oysters from every oyster house in town. The best? Obviously it is subjective but our winner is…
