After a truly wonderful lunch at Prémices, we headed to the Musee Carnavalet which is located in Le Marias and dedicated to the history of Paris. There is a large sculpture of of Louis XIV the Sun King in the courtyard which seemed to be mocking our gluttony to date 🙂
It was a very interesting (free) museum and it helps if you know a bit of French as most of the descriptions are in French.
After the Musee Carnavalet we found ourselves on the Metro and decided to stop by the George V for a proper (and expensive) cocktail.
Although we generally stick with the classics, we opted for a terrific cucumber infused (in-house infused) gin martini which was chilled with some special freezer to icy perfection. (As an aside, we have failed many times trying to get a dry martini in Paris. When we request a twist we, more likely than not, end up with a glass of citron flavored vodka (not it at all) and one martini we ordered came with lychee??? We have pretty much switched to champagne (when in Rome or more to the point when in Paris) but if there is a secret to ordering a bone dry vodka martini with a twist I would love to know it! Anyway – it was a fun pitstop.

Do you mind me asking how much a drink at George V will set you back?

Not at all! The cocktails were 27 euros. Not cheap but great setting and great drinks.
