Thinking back it all started with those five little words — “An asparagus bed to die for.” Nothing like a savvy marketing bit of copy by a University English professor-turned-real estate agent that was published in the New York Times real estate section to turn our lives upside down. To be sure it would be some time before a desire to snap fresh asparagus spears from a backyard garden would result in our abandoning our careers as attorneys to open a fine destination farm-to-table restaurant but ultimately it was our dreams of fresh asparagus that started us down the path of insanity.
